about

Hello! I am Gabby Medina, and I am an advocate and a counselor in training in the Four Corners region of Colorado. Originally from Denver, I now reside in Cortez. My pronouns are She/Her/Hers, and I'm a Chicana person and a Mom. I very much enjoy being outside, and when folks are comfortable, I enjoy walking during sessions.

My main focus is counseling individuals who have adverse or traumatic experiences. I focus a lot of my practice on developing resourcing skills and processing experiences. I studied Sociology with a focus in Criminology at Fort Lewis College and Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Adams State University. I have recently completed training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and I am expanding my skills to serve individuals struggling with addictions. I am excited for the opportunity to work with you!

Services

Individual Counseling

Individual counseling sessions provide a safe, supportive, and confidential space for personal growth and healing. Using evidence-based approaches such as Mindfulness and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), we help clients navigate challenges like interpersonal difficulties, anxiety, and depression. Sessions are tailored to each person’s unique needs, focusing on increasing self-awareness, emotional regulation, and resilience. Through gentle guidance and practical tools, clients learn to manage stress, process past experiences, and build healthier relationships with themselves and others. Whether you’re seeking relief from emotional distress or striving for personal growth, individual counseling offers a compassionate path toward balance and well-being. These sessions are offered in-person and online.

Group Counseling

Group counseling sessions provide a supportive and healing space for individuals recovering from relational trauma and seeking to rebuild a sense of safety and connection. Group members come together to share experiences, gain insight, and practice healthy ways of relating to others. The focus is on creating a safe and trusting environment where participants can explore the impact of past relationships, develop emotional awareness, and strengthen boundaries. Through mindfulness, grounding techniques, and group support, members learn to foster self-compassion, rebuild trust, and form more secure and fulfilling connections. Our group is temporarily on pause as we gather interest for the next session cycle. If you are interested in joining or would like more information about future group dates, please reach out to express your interest. You will be contacted once new sessions are scheduled.

I can accept the following insurance:

  • CO Medicaid

  • Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield

  • Kaiser

  • Carelon

  • Aetna

I also offer a sliding scale for self-pay clients. Individual counseling sessions start at $120 for an hour. Group counseling starts at $60 for a two hour group.
